Only The Lonely

There is a unique loneliness that comes when the doctor looks at your chart, looks at you, and then decides that what you are feeling cannot possibly be real. I’ve been there myself. You sit there with a body that hurts, an exhausted mind, and a story that refuses to fit neatly into their lab results or decision treee. The room becomes a foreign land as you realize the person who was supposed to help you has stepped back from the reality you are living in. You begin to question your own senses because authority carries weight and you begin to wonder if there is anyone like you with this situation. But the pain does not disappear when someone dismisses it. Apparently, primary immune disorders are not all in your head, despite what some would believe. The fatigue does not pack its bags and leave because a test came back normal. You walk out of the office carrying the same symptoms, only now you are also carrying the isolation of not being believed. Few can really appreciate the feelings of defeat walking back to the car after one of these appointments. It is a strange experience to suffer in plain sight while feeling invisible at the same time. If this sounds familiar to you, reach out and we can discuss this new reality you are inhabiting. I don’t sit here with a cure, a supplement, or diet plan, but these stories are not unfamiliar to me and you are not the only one who has been dismissed as you medically spiral.
